A found Polaroid photo on the streets in Palermo became a catalyst for my work. I painted it on a large scale and transformed a black-and-white image with imagined vibrant colours. I am blending my own nostalgia with the anonymous memory. Through this process, I began to question the boundaries between personal and collective memory, and between what is lived and what is imagined.
I am fascinated by how nostalgia can reshape reality, and I ask: What happens when you include images that are not your own in your personal archive? Can you come to believe you know these people? I am exploring how nostalgia in art can personally engage viewers and create connections through universal feelings. -
Through my work, I strive to blur the lines between the personal and the universal, inviting others to find connection in shared nostalgia. I want to foster a sense of togetherness and transform uncertainty into collective memory.
